My husband and I are no strangers to the term ‘DINKWAD’, Dual Income No Kids With a Dog (or 2), having brought home our pandemic puppy, Miley nearly 5 years ago. Since one wasn’t enough, we reinforced the moniker by adopting a second dog, Murphy. It sounds great (and most of the time it is), but if there was one thing about this house that stood out when we toured it, it was that there was ample space for all of the dogs’ stuff. Between two crates, too many beds, countless toys and care items, our previous unit was starting to feel more like a Petco than a human home.
When we finally got our keys to the new house, you’d think our priorities would have been on moving in our stuff, but then you would be forgetting that we are DINKWADs! The sunroom, with its quick access to the backyard, was the perfect spot for the dog room. Thankfully, since this room is for dogs, I was able to take some creative liberties with paint color. I ended up painting the walls Wedgewood Gray by Benjamin Moore and the windows and trim Van Courtland Blue, and I love the contrast. The fun bonus? Blue is actually one of the few colors dogs can see!

Keeping with the dog theme for decor, I landed on prints of our dogs’ breeds (Miley is still jealous Murphy gets 3 frames and she only gets 1).

All the dog supplies we could possibly need are stored in the Idasen cabinet from Ikea, which gets bonus points for being metal and breathable (dogs are stinky!).
